Being a leader is more than just managing people or making a company successful. Being a leader means setting the framework for people to succeed.
True leadership is setting the framework for people to succeed.
How can leaders do that?

Regularly communicate with their team in an effective and productive way

The first step to being a successful leader is by communicating with your team effectively. This lays the foundation for people and sets bosses apart from leaders. Communication with your team should be done on a regular basis and a part of the conversation should revolve around what you as a leader can do to assist your team and how you can help them accomplish and achieve their goals. Framing these conversations around, “How can I help you today” also allows your team to actively consider what they need from their leaders. It also allows for a two-way flow of communication, essential for team building and team success.

Provide tools and resources to help your team achieve their goals

People’s goals will be different from one another, but it is important to consider what tools or resources will be the most important and beneficial for your team. Whether that is by providing letters of recommendation for postgraduate applicants or allowing for flexible work hours for team members who want to start their own business, by providing tools and resources to team members, leaders are setting the framework for people to succeed.

Encourage team members to be a part of the creative process

While many team leaders and executive teams want their team members to be a part of the team and the creative process in theory, it is not uncommon for them to be left out of the actual conversations. When it comes to the idea process, team members should be actively involved in coming up with ideas and innovative ways to expand their business. By giving your team members a seat at the table and giving them a chance to share their ideas, you are setting the framework for them to succeed internally.
These are simple but effective ways to push your team to succeed both externally and internally. By regularly communicating, encouraging your team members to be active during the idea process and by providing tools and resources to help your team achieve their goals, you will be creating an environment that is ideal for your team members’ personal and professional success and growth.
